Help & Support

Please note this is a guideline/recommendation only and not a guarantee

Thank you for choosing a Maison Home product

We want you to enjoy your purchase for as long as possible.

To maintain your product’s appearance and functionality over time, the following care guides will prove useful.

All our products carry care instructions, but in addition we’ve added some well-intentioned comments.

Cotton Tea Towels

Please wash your tea towel before first use. You will find the absorbency will vastly improve – and will continue to improve over time.

All cotton tea towels are machine washable using a synthetics cycle.

We recommend 40 degrees on low agitation

There really is no need to wash at a higher temperature – especially if you wash the product shortly after use, which we encourage!

Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee full colourfastness above these temperatures. Try to wash as part of a full load and wash darker colours together to minimise any potential colour transfer.

Our tips – try not to use “biological” washing powders, avoid optical brighteners, bleach and never use fabric conditioner!

We recommend detergents which can be placed in your machine’s powder drawer (or just cut the corner of your liquid-tab and pour the contents into the drawer) – it stops the detergent directly contacting your precious design!

Drying is best on a line and smooth and shape before ironing.

Ironing is always on the reverse using a medium setting and best results achieved from damp.

We all love natural fibres and their benefits, but please be aware they will shrink. We do our best during manufacture to minimise this effect, but please accept a small amount - especially after first wash.

We’d also like to remind you that all-natural materials are flammable – keep them away from gas hob flames, ignition lights and open fires.

Aprons

Our aprons are made from 100% cotton with adjustable neck and waist tie.

Oven Gloves

Made from 100% cotton. Our double oven gloves are durable, comfortable and easy to clean. They will protect your hands when handling hot pans and removing pots from the oven up to 250°C for a period of 15 seconds. The gloves will not protect the hands against spillages of hot liquid, electric shock or sharp equipment

We recommend that before use, you inspect the glove carefully to ensure it is not damaged.

The oven gloves are machine washable at 40°C low agitation and can be ironed using a medium setting. Line drying is recommended, as these are not suitable for drying in the tumble dryer. The oven gloves must not be used if wet or damp.

Do not allow the oven gloves to come into contact with naked flames or elements.

Ceramics

Wash in warm soapy water, as promptly after use as possible. Dry with a well-loved Maison Home tea towel. Please refer to the care instructions on the product label or packaging for washing instructions.

Never use scouring pads, abrasives or harsh chemicals. If you find your cup or mug has discoloured, try initially soaking in a mixture of warm water, detergent and salt.

Store your ceramic plates with as few on top of one another as possible. The reduced weight will help avoid marking.

Pepper and Salt Mills

General Use and Care

To fill or refill your mill:
Unscrew metal knob, remove top and fill up with either pepper (if pepper mill) or coarse sea salt crystals (if salt mill). Please do not use rock salt or salt flakes. Also please do not put salt in a pepper mill, or vice versa. Replace top and knob

If you have purchased a Skittle mill then please use a small coin to unscrew the metal screw, remove top and fill up with either pepper (if pepper mill) or sea salt crystals (if salt mill). Also please do not put salt in a pepper mill, or vice versa. Then replace top and screw

All the mills are fitted with a copyrighted spring tension, advanced grinding mechanism. Simply tighten or loosen the knob for a fine to coarse grinding

A few additional tips:
Please do not expose the mill to heat and also avoid direct contact with steam. Store your mills in a cool, dry place. Give the mill a shake after grinding to avoid excess grinds falling onto the table or work surface. Wipe the external surfaces of the mill with a clean damp cloth. Please do not use cleaning products on the mills, for example, anti-bacterial spray or wipes and do not put into a dishwasher or oven

From time to time put a small drop of cooking oil on your finger and rub it around the threaded part of the mill shaft. This will help stop any corrosion caused by salt between the shaft and the screw knob and make it easier in the long run to remove the knob when you come to either adjust the grinder or refill the mill.

Melamine Tray

The best way to care for your melamine tray please try following these simple guidelines:
Melamine is a pretty tough material. But you can take a few simple steps to keep your tray looking vibrant and stylish for longer.

Some “do’s and “don’ts for caring of melamine:

  • Do use soft sponges when you clean your melamine tray by hand.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaning tools like steel wool on melamine, because they can scratch and cause wear.
  • Do not use serrated knives or other sharp utensils, because they can scratch the surface
  • Do not put melamine in a microwave or oven
  • Do not put your tray in the dishwasher
